New pup

Post by Dtonne85 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 9:23 am

Picked up the Pup this weekend. So far so good. No accidents inside he has actually been going to the back door when he wants to go out. He sleeps alot but is slowly building his confidence. So far he has slept or atleast stayed in his crate throughout the night. I left the door open last night and when I woke up at 130am he was up just chewing on his kong. At 430 when my wife got up she left him alone and got ready for work and he just stayed in his crate quiet. The other dog did his usual routine and went out and then when she was ready she took him outside and he did his buisness. Hopefully he stays on this track.Image

Good looking pup! Fear not, I see a future terrorist in those eyes, just waiting for the right moment. Looks like fun, fingers crossed mine should be ready in a couple months.

Ordered Evan Grahams 3 part books and the puppy DVD from gun dog supply. Started throwing a paint roller for him yesterday a few times. Hes got the sit and fetch part somewhat but not the actual retrieving part haha. Someday. Where do you all expect your pup to be at say at 3 months 4 months and 5 months?

This is a common question , because new owners think a pup follows a regular time line. I remember making out a monthly chart , with winning a AF field trial championship by the end of year 1. Every dog is different so that's why this is a hard question to answer. You're off to a good start with Evan Graham help.
Right now socialization is your biggest goal.
