Thank you for this series. I think it will be helpful to new competitors, and serve as reminders for some seasoned ones.
My take on judging is this... I run my dogs and the judges can use them or not. If I'm happy with my dogs, that's all that counts. Who can say what judges see and interpret over the course of a stake, so as to second guess them.
That being said, sometimes we get robbed, and sometimes we get a gift. It usually evens out so no sense getting upset.
I think that on the side of getting robbed, be it through politics, connections or lack thereof, judges not paying attention or whatever, everyone who watched that stake knows the truth. And who looks like the jerk - not the dog, handler, or scout...it's the judge and everyone knows it.
All the peoplemess aside, nothing is better than running a good birddog over God's green earth under God's sky with the wind in our faces and fresh air in our lungs. Every minute is a blessing.
