Famous Springers

Post by Fishmongerjoe » Wed Sep 11, 2019 7:27 pm

I recently acquired a springer pup. In the pedigree, I found a dog named Kettlestang Comet. After a bit of research, I found that this dog had quite a reputation. It produced around 20 champions out of 300-400 offspring.

I’m new to the springer world, what are some other lines to look for? And where should I look to find information that Google wouldn’t know about?

Field Springers have their own web site. You can go to https://essft.com/ which chronicles field trial results

I had them about 40 yrs ago. Loved them to pieces but when I lost my old Skipper I found myself rejecting litter's because it was Skipper I was looking for. They are a super breed!

I looked over there and the only stuff I was finding was it’s name in other pedigrees. I did find this which was interesting.

He was a UK dog so I’m not sure if essft documented British dogs. I’m thinking no. However I did discover another dog in the pedigree was recently inducted into their hall of fame. This time it was on the dam side.

I’m new at the extensive pedigree research, so I still have much to learn.

Welcome to the spaniel world. Yes they will all go back to UK dogs as that's where they came from.

Your is a "Druid" derivative. This blood line has produced Champions and fine hunting dogs on both sides of the pond. Now that you know know that train, train, train. Have him/her become all he/she can be.
