The Flush

Aye Mates,

The Flush

Me gun dog TRAD is seen making a flush on a chukar partridge during a hunt earlier this afternoon. Once the dog put's the bird into the air, he is expected to remain steady until given a release command to make retrieve of the bird if it is shot and falls to the ground. If the bird is missed by the gunner, the dog must still remain steady at SIT and is trained to not chase after the bird as it flys away. Me dogs are trained to release upon my saying their name, that signaling their permission to go to the area of fall and make the retrieve. TRAD is trained to return to the handler and present the bird classically to hand.

TRAD is out of the selective breeding program of Haynes and Colleen Floyd of Double TT British Kennels in Sylvia, Kansas and is trained by yours truly.

Cheers,
THE DOG WHISTLER โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Your photo skills are exceptional. Aside from the technical and artistic skills, you must have a passion for our beloved sport in order to capture fleeting subjects in critical time.
And where on the globe would this pic be taken from Laddy Buck? Great habitat.
Sounds like you have some VERY high class dogs there. I'm guessing that goes a LONG way towards the caliber of pics you gather.
I would truly enjoy seeing your dogs work. Labs/flushers are especially delightful on pheasants, in my opinion.
Keep them coming Sir!

Featherfinder,

Thanks most kindly Mate. I have had a love for art and the natural world for as near long as I can recall. I have enjoyed a passion for bird hunting for what is now o'er a half century and it has not waned but only grown more intense as time marches forward. Me dogs are like family to me and we both hunt and participate in hunt testing as a team. I would concur with ye that better dogs make for better sporting dog photo's, a number o' varying factors being contributory in that regard. My Labs are cross trained to hunt both upland birds and waterfowl, the latter being my true love.

Truth be told, I love shooting the smoothbore and the camera, t'is a real struggle at time to make the choice betwixt the two.

My love of sporting dogs goes back to me days as a long lad having started with hounds and the hunting o' hare. I have hunted with some fine pointing dogs in me day, though I never chose to own any. Retrievers are me preference and the connection I share with them is "bleep" near spiritual.

I'll keep the writings and images coming Mate.

Cheers,
The Dog Whistler โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Mike, If you want to come out here and hunt those masked bandits in their "introduced" native habitats you will see why we say out here," You hunt chukars the first time for fun and then from then on for revenge." :D

...I picked up on that with one of your posts.

I can hit a golf ball into NY and toss a baseball into CT.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.
