Deutsch Kurzhaar dogs

Post by dstewart7397 » Sat Jan 18, 2020 8:24 am

I am interested in hearing some backround on these dogs and what all you guys use them for. I have a friend that not only decoys but dispatches coyotes with them i was wondering if he is the only one currently doing that. Is it out of the norm or is it true that these dogs can be a all around dog from waterfowl to rabbits to predator to game birds. How do you as a hunter use this breed

Deutsch Kurzhaar are what Europeans call GSPs. If you want to import a GSP from Germany, that is what you are getting.

They're European bred shorthairs that tend to be bigger than what you'd see out of American lines. They do seem to have more of an affinity for water than some lines of GSP's. I think they'd be too big to decoy in coyotes but don't know anything about that.

True CJ. They hold to traditions as most Europeans do. GSPs /GWPs/Weims/etc. are supposed have "sharpness", by nature.
Not something I personally appreciate in my bird dogs but it's about that whole versatile "jack of all trades - master of some".
