Trying to plan a trip this fall to get Nick into some wild birds. Would like to try Kansas and or Missouri or open to other suggestions. I need help finding info on public land access for self guided hunting. Any info greatly appreciated.

Not a lot of public land in either state relatively speaking and getting on to private ground is difficult. I am not aware of any place in Missouri that would be worth traveling to for quail or pheasant IMO. I would love to find a place in Kansas to hunt myself but I haven't found it yet. I hunted in Western Kansas years ago on public land and it wasn't worth going back.

I don’t really have an interest in Missouri, but I am planning to hunt Kansas thanksgiving week. I’ve been eyeing WIHA as that opens up an additional million acres to public access. I am wanting to try and get a prairie chicken while I’m down there.

THERE ARE MORE ACRES IN KANSAS TO HUNT THAN A FELLA COULD COVER IN A SEASON.
WE GO TO SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS EVERY THANKSGIVING AND HAVE A BLAST. ITS DEF WORTH THE TRIP.
KNOCK ON DOORS, BE RESPECTFUL AND YOU WILL BE SURPRISED.
JUST MY OPINION
