Field first aid kit

Ever since I was in the scouts I've carried a small first aid kit in my vehicle. As I got older and started solo hunting I carry small essentials that would hold me over until I get to the truck. But now having a bird dog what do I/you do? Carry a small essentials pack in your vest and a larger kit in the vehicle?

Is there a recommended premade kit or better to piece one together?

I see a lot have suture supplies, I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this isn't a dead discussion that I missed in my search

My dog bag:
Heavy Hemostats
Surgical Scissors
Sharp Knife
Multi-tool
Stapler
Bactine
Bag Balm
Clotting Powder
Benadryl
Tramadol
Electrical and Duct tape
Gauze
Large Plastic Ziploc
Vet Wrap
Dog Boots
Short length of rope

Vest:
Dog Boots
Vet wrap
Pocket Knife
Tape
Hemostats
Sugar packs for clotting
Small headlamp
Small rope
Benadryl (if it’s snakey)

I have another packaged first-aid kit in the truck too. And the contact for an available vet saved on my phone.

My kit was pretty much what Garrison has for the truck. Along what he has listed for his vest, I also used to carry a small rope set up for coni bear traps. small vice grips for quill removal, and heavy duty side cutters for cutting snares in my vest.

Just a small tool bag in the back of the truck and a zip up canvas pouch for the vest.

I have had a dog that was quite intent on trying to kill himself, or at least rip himself up for the last 10 years. The setter, not so much.

Wish I'd had such a kit when my setter was ripped up by a deer( fawn nearby).

Thanks I really appreciate the input. My little man shows no fear with exploring so far. So I just want to be as prepared as I can for whatever he may get into.Image

Basicaly something to pull quills, something to stop bleeding, something to cover the wound and some way to get the dog out and to a vet. Duct tape is very important because without it you probably can't do much by yourself.
Not many poisonous snakes in the north and they den up early. So we don't worry about them.
Don't load yourself up to much. Most wounds, even ones that look really bad, are not life threatening ......Cj

Thanks for the advice. My goal for next season is to have a better kit in the vehicle than I currently do (and hopefully never have to use it). As well as a more organized small kit for my vest.
