I had dinner a couple of weeks ago with two friends of mine, one of whom was of Korean extraction and the other of Vietnamese extraction. Among the conversation was what we might've been had our parents/grandparents/ancestors not emigrated to this country. Suffice to say that we were all enormously grateful that they had. We should all be. When I hear people whining about this or that regarding America, I remember Aesop's dictum that "Gratitude is the sign of noble souls." You can tell a lot about a person based on whether he is grateful for this blessed land.
