Roading Bar?

Post by gypsy » Tue Apr 26, 2022 4:57 pm

I would like to made my own roading bar. I will extend to the front right side of my Honda Pioneer.

How high should I mount the bar?

How far out from the front tire should it extend?

Thanks

Far enough they can’t get caught under a tire, and high enough the bar won’t break their back if they suddenly stop and you don’t. A bit of heavy duty shock prevention (thick bungee) should be engineered into the length of pull.

A friend fabricated the brackets that I bolted to the front grill guard. I'll measure the tubing dimensions. The bracket put my bar at the right height and moved it forward of the tires some more.

One last question: What is the distance from the ground to the bar?

Thanks

The bar height is 34 inches. The extensions are 1" I.D. square tubing (.120 wall or 11 gauge). With the .120 inch wall this makes the O.D. 1 !/4". The receivers are lighter gauge, probably 16 gauge. Not exactly sure what I.D. though. Inside dimension would have to be a little larger than 1 1/4". If you have a steel supply near you they should be able to advise.
