Alpha T100 hand unit is fritzing. Has anyone had this problem?

When I last plugged in my Alpha, instead of going into charging mode, the unit turned on. I tried removing the battery to reset it but that didn't help and of course it slowly discharged. After multiple attempts, it does the same thing. I can't get it to enter charge mode.
I couldn't find anything on Youtube and thought I'd try here before going to Garmin support in case someone knows a quick fix.
I've had the unit be trouble free for 7 years so if I have to buy a replacement, it's been worth it.
