Poor Dog! - Pics Now

Post by Terry » Sun Apr 15, 2007 12:39 am

I was doing some work with my dogs today, I worked with my yellow female first and left my male in the back. She was back there chirping in the back letting me know she would rather sit and watch in the front (as normal). And all the sudden I hear this awful howling, I thought her collar malfunctioned...it sounded like someone was holding it continuous on a 5 (I just bought a new TT G3 so I can have both dogs on the one transmitter). I ran to go through the back gate and pulled the cord and it wouldn't move and I realized she was stuck up on the fence. My wife was running out the back at the same time and got her off the fence just as I got through the house.

I thought her collar had got stuck, but she had got the gate latch (it is up about 5 ft) stuck under her front leg, and couldn't get loose. I felt under her armpit and my hand went up into her skin 1-2 inches. Off to the vet. Anyway, she is a bit sore, but took it like a champ, didn't wine at all when I was looking over her. You can see it was pretty bad in the pics, but she should be fine in 3-4 weeks.

....well I can't figure out how to post pictures yet, so I will put them up tomorrow...

She had some torn tissue and some of the skin was pulled away from the tissue under it, the tubes let the fluid drain so she doesn't get an abcest, I have to make sure they don't scab over so they keep dripping.

Well stitches came out today! Think I'll bring her to work with me tomorrow so she can roll in the dirt a little bit...she's pretty antsy after two weeks of "almost" no play. :)

Well...they took the stitches out too soon and she had a pocket fill up with fluid...whatever they call that. So today they had to open it back up and she is has to stay in the crate for at least 5 days except to eat, poo and pee.

:(...one very sad pup...
