Pedigree ?

Post by Trigger » Wed May 16, 2007 3:12 pm

I was curious if there is an area with accronyms. I started to research my dogs pedigree and found that I had more questions than insight. For example one sire in her blood line is DC AFC TREKKER V. GRUNBAUM, MH MX/AXJ UDX TDX

Now I know that MH(Master Hunter), MX( Master Agility Excellent), AXJ( Excellent Jumper With Weaves), UDX(Utility Dog Excellent), TDX(Tracking Dog Excellent).

However what is DC, CAN, and CD

I know this sounds really dumb to ask this but I have searched around and only found info on the others. Thanks

MH, Master Hunter, SH, Senior Hunter, FC, Field Champion, AFC, Amateur Field Champion, DC Dual Champion, show and field.

All other so-called titles mean nothing in field work. AKC.ORG has all titles listed.

DC = Dual Champion - typically conformation and field
CD = Companion Dog - first level of obedience
CAN could indicate a Canadian title from the CKC
Only thing worse than a bad dog is no dog at all...

There is a long list of titles and certifications on the www.akc.org website. I would go there and just do a search on "titles" or "title abbreviations." I have not looked at it in a long time, so can't tell you exactly where it is.

Thanks for the replies. I have found a list with all of your help. I have also undone some of the confusion associated with all of the different titles. Thanks
