He owned up, kind of, and apologized. I'm waiting to see what he does next, or after his sentencing. Actions speak louder than words and we'll soon know if his remorse is for his past action or whether it's because he simply got caught.

Never was a fan of his (football), though, so I could really care less whether he gets to play in the NFL again or not.

He won't be playing in the NFL ever again and he got what he diserved. I haven't heard what he got sentenced to yet.

It's a very sad situation all the way around and certainly proves that money can't buy class.

Hopefully he will get a strong enough sentance and fines to make a real statement to help discourage this kind of stuff in the future.

While I'm not even a big NFL fan anymore and didn't know who Vick was prior to this incident as much as I hate to say it I have little doubt that unless he's in prison for several years, as soon as he's out someone will pick him up that's desperate for a quaterback or reciever.

I do feel for the NFL as an organization as well as his team mates. God knows we've been through a bunch of embarassing trash for players (and coaches) in Texas with the Dallas Cowboy Organization over the last ten years.

Unfortunately athletes that can perform at that level are rare, few and far between so if he's got any game left when he's through paying for his crimes someone will be willing to write him a big fat check and put him back to work, unless the NFL as an organization bans him for life which is unlikely.

Once a taste of RICHES, you cant keep them down, maybe he cant play football again, so what, He will probably write a book and never have to work again. There is alot of dog fighting goin on in the U.S. He got caught. Also chicken fighting. I dont like it, but what I really dont like is some back woods kennel found to have lots of dogs or cats starving and living in BAD BAD conditions. I bet thoes fighting dogs ate well, maybe PRO PLAN,-------------   Sonny

The guy is a freakin' moron, he's losing millions of dollars because he did something so incredibly stupid that even a moron should have realized it was a very BAD idea. I have no sympathy for him. He's an idiot.

As far as his apology and plea deal. He did what his lawyers told him to do. They had him dead to rights and his only hope of avoiding the maximum sentence and even dreaming about playing in the NFL again was to plead out and throw himself on the mercy of the court of public opinion.

I'm kind of torn because I hate people who abuse and kill dogs, but at the same time I hate Peta and the Humane Society and I don't like the way they have rallied up so much support for their organizations through all the publicity of this.

DMX really screwed up big time on his deal. My understanding is that he got caught in Sheriff Joe's County.... Maricopa County Arizona.... Sheriff Joe don't play no sissy games in his county jail. You work the chain gang for Joe, You wear pink jump suits, no air, no tv, oh and the best part... You live in a tent in the desert. Gotta love Sheriff Joe !
That is hilarious....I want to see some pictures of DMX in a pink jumpsuit, won't look so tough then!

I think there is a SADISTIC sickness in all those involved with this garbage.
I seriously doubt there is a cure and although he may never do it again, he will always enjoy the blood and guts of it all.

I certainly hope that as dog lovers we would band together in the future and refuse to watch any team this worthless excuse for a human being ever gets picked up by.

Also, don't think for one second that Vic's activities were not known by many all the while they were going on. This entire ordeal is little more then a tiny scratch on the surface of a very sick society, many of whom are quite wealthy.

That is why I am a hockey fan. You don't hear of these soft-spoken Canadian farm boys tearing up hotels, getting arrested, pimping their rides, and all of this other crap. They are tough as nails on the ice and as pleasant as can be off the ice. I live near Martin Broudeur and some of the other Devils and you see them around acting as regular as anyone. Broduer's kids play hockey on rival teams of my sons and he is just a dad in the bleachers like anyone else. And he'll always sign an autograph. NHL players can give an articulate interview too.

I have given up on baseball and football because of all of the bling-bling thugism rampant in the sport. As a kid growing up in the early '70s, I can remember "looking up to" pro athletes for their work ethic and integrity. Today is a far cry from that.

Gotta wonder how many of those in the NFL were really unaware of it. Quite a number of years ago here in Ore a chicken fighting ring got raided. Caught in the raid he wasn't made aware of was that county's sherrif. The site was near Deer Island and was an old kennel owned by a very well known lab trainer. The name escapes me now but his brother was the trainer/handler of Saghitons Sizzler. An all time great in the springer world.

Definitely not blaming everyone for it. Where did that comment come from? I am just saying because of the rampant rappish thugism in these two sports I quit following them. I have ZERO connection with most of these guys. I don't even like looking at them - all those tatoos and hair everywhere, scarves, headbands, skullcaps. So cool "yo yo man wassup." "Word-up, Bro." It just doesn't work for me - it's a real turn-off.

Hockey gives all of the hitting and action by tremendous athletes and they are pleasant people.

Bean, Sammy Sosa is a poor example. He has been implicated in the whole steroid scandal. Why do you think he is about half the size as he was a few years ago. His numbers have also fallen off quite a bit.

Besides, has is gotten so bad with these guys that now we praise them for behaving like decent human beings?

Before any sports figure ever hit the FOR PAY arena, they should be required to pass an exam entitled "What every college freshman should know".
Clearly better then half of them would never hit the field and that would be fine with me.

Ever listen to how most of these brain surgeons speak while on national TV? I sit here LMAO watching them try to read prepared statements.
Guess those who prepared the text never gave much thought to weather or not the imbicile can even read.

Between Sports and Hollywood I am one who is very happy to have an intelligent dog to spend my free time with!

Michael Vick

Post by winchestermodel50 » Tue Aug 28, 2007 8:42 pm

I think Vick deserves an appropriate fine and he needs to spend some time in jail, but remember, we aren't involved in what a lot of people would consider a humane sport. There is some perspective here as to values assigned to humans vs animals. I think Vick should pay his dues, be set up as an appropriate example, and allowed to play football again, if anyone wants him.
A dog doesn't have a soul. Mike Tyson raped a young girl and served some time and boxed for years afterwards. As bad as dog fighting is, Mike Tyson's offense was a lot worse.

Boxers are not required to sign agrements with a miltimillion dollar contract that bacically says "you will not ask like a idiot because we will loose money from it" sign here. Or the same would have happened to mike. I don't think he will get enough punishment. Not only did he have a dog fighting ring, they were putting hoods on "like some kind of rituial" and killing the dogs that would not fight by hanging them and electricuting them. After you signed the agreement would you act like a respectable human and get millions for doing it, or would you then spend 9 years fighting dogs and knowing this could end it all. What a idiot. I think they will win in court (they are suing him also) and he will have to pay the money back or what is left of it. The end result will be a broke looser.
