Bird Boxes

Post by Addict » Wed Oct 03, 2007 5:58 pm

Here are some pictures of some bird boxes I inherited from my wife's grandfather. You can fit about 6-8 pigeons per side in them.

Overall dimensions are 30" long X 16" wide X 10" deep. Thats from wall to wall excluding the tack board to hold the canvas in place. There is 6" inbetween the middle bar on the top. The bigger pieces are 3/4" X 2". The smaller rails are 1"X 3/4".

Was he a racer? This style is the best because you can get birds out without them being able to fly out.

Yes he raced homers. He had them around for dog training as well.

I am not sure if this one has a door that folds down on one side or not but I would suggest it. Like in the first box here.

The reason is if you ever train your birds to use anywhere away from the pen you can release them all without taking one at a time out.

Here is a closer view of the flap that ohiogsp was talking about.

It's great when your done training to release any unused birds. I need to repair the canvas on my boxes. I have a couple of holes and one of the flaps is to tight to open.

Yep, I thought it might be like that but wasn't sure from the pics.
