Does your dog snore?

Post by GSP 4 me » Wed Nov 14, 2007 1:16 am

My GSP is sleeping on his dog bed located on the floor beside me as I type this. He's breathing deeply right now, but no snoring...actually I don't think he ever has. Every once in a while he'll do this cute little mini bark and his paws and legs will move...must be dreaming about chasing cats.

Does your dog take that heavy breathing one step further and start snoring?

Mine does the same running and whimpering thing. I think they are dreaming of hunting. My dogs do snore also.

My male snores, but both of them will "run" and "sniff" in their sleep.

I sleep like a log, so I wouldn't know if Heidi snores. I asked my wife, and she said if Heidi does snore, she can't hear it over the noise I make!

She does do the whimpering and running thing though. My dad always said they were chasing rabbits in their dreams.

With all the noises that come out of my dogs mouth, I dont think I could tell if she snores or not. She does the dreaming thing, the almost growling thing, weird exhaling thing, weird grunts all day, unique panting but not panting, and a gargling noise, just to name a few.

Mine snores some, but mostly she does this really weird sequence when she is in deep sleep....goes something like this....growl,wimper,wimper,growl,growl,wimper,wimper,whine,growl...haha. All while her legs and paws are twitching, she's talented

I've never heard either one of mine snore. They do make sounds sometimes when I think they are dreaming.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Roscoe does all of the above. He really barks and runs in his sleep after a very active day.

Sometimes he starts this really mean/aggressive type growl. My wife says that he has to dream about being a mean dog because he is such a push over in real life. He would go with anybody that will show him a little love and attention.

Mine all snore. They also do the whimper, legs running, woofs, growls, etc.

My husband snores also. LOL In fact one time I kept telling him to roll over and kept elbowing him in the ribs. He finally told me, "Hey I am awake! The dog is snoring."

Snore, yep, sometimes. He did a lot more as a puppy than recently. Now things have mainly calmed to a heavy breathing. The mini-bark and feet run thing happens sometimes too.

A couple times as a pup when sleeping, Justus would howl like a wolf howling at the moon, waking himself up in the process. We had a weekly tornado siren test that caused him to howl too, so on those times when he did that I just thought he was dreaming of that siren going off again. He hasn't done that in a long time though.

I have a couple that snore & a few that don't.....the don'ts get to sleep in the bedroom, the do's sleep in the living room - along with the old man on nights him & the dogs decide to have snoring contests!! Some nights I've just gone to the couch & put the snorers with him, they sound like a 747 taking off when they all get going...... :?

My GSP snores, but not like my last GSP. That ol' boy would shake the rafters. He was mellow too, at least when he wasn't hunting. People would ask me if my GSP was hyper and bounced off the walls all the time. I would tell them the snoring is usually the only way to tell he's not in a coma. :D

All dogs dream, and what they dream about we may never know. I do know that when my bird dog is twitching and making little "arf" noises, all I have to do is whisper in her ear "Biiiiiiiirds!" and she locks up and points in her sleep.

I've got another dog that howls in her sleep - she lets out a long owoooooooo! which wakes her up, and then she looks around the room usually looking a little embarrassed (if you can imagine such a thing).

My gsp sucks the curtains in. Occasionally she wakes herself up, looks around like ' Who woke me up?' And then goes back to sleep. And snoring. Natural comedians.
