FC Diamond S Angus

FC Diamond S Angus multiple NGSPA hour winner has died. He was diagnosed with lepto and was finally showing improvement when his kidneys failed and he passed. With his diagnosis of lepto I have come to find out after talking to several vets that lepto is making a sort of a comeback. I now use a Fort Dodge vaccine that is strictly for lepto along with the annual booster. I just wanted everyone to know so they don't have to lose a dog they shouldn't like I did.

Wow, I am sorry for your loss. I never even heard of a dog having that around here.

pttrrff, sorry for your loss, my condolences.
ohiohgsp, I had heard this last year a friend had gone to Dr Hutch for something & he remarked to her he had seen more Lepto in the last few months than he had in years - that was last year & I hadn't heard anything more prior to this post though.
Just last week there was a breeding seminar in MI, the speaker said there was an outbreak of Brucellosis in GA & Texas - here is the e-mail she sent me.

"Hey ,

I just got back from that breeder’s seminar and something I learned is really disturbing.

Dogs in Georgia and Texas are being put down by the hundreds due to a major out break of Brucellosis.

The speaker (a vet at the U of M, fertility specialist) said that Brucellosis is on the rise and that people who take their dogs to shows, trials, etc. should be testing every six months. Ugh! More stuff to worry about.

I’ll update you tomorrow if something like this is in that presentation also.

Hope you had a great day and your game bag is full to the limit.

Sally"

Scary stuff, again pttrrff, you have my sincere condolences, so sorry for your loss.
Ann

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I will take your advice to heart and make sure the dogs' lepto is up to date.

My sincere condolences, Greg J.

Mike

It is just so tragic that the GSP world lost Angus. I did get to know him a bit as we were together quite a bit last spring and I got to handle him to an hour win in the amateur shooting dog at Region 16.

Very sorry for your personal loss.

My condolences for your loss as well. Isn't lepto part of the puppy vaccination routine? Does it need a booster now?
