Just a trick, try tossing a dead bird in box along with command of kennel of load, if pup has desire to retreive. Or there is the other way called the" shorthair toss" a few times of that will cure it too. Remember GSP(or all hunting breeds) have very thick haeds.

The shorthaired toss...is that an olyimpic sport..lol

Start by leading the dog to the tail gate on a short check cord or leash, as you aproach the the tail gate encurgage the dog to pick up his momentum so he can jump while giving a load comand (kennel up or load up..or what ever you choose to use). If he fails to load, grab him by the coller and the loose skin of his back and load him your self while saying the load comand. Then praise him for loading. If he atempts to load (puts his front paws up on the tail gate asist him up then praise). You want to make it a possitive expierance but yet be firm as well, dont just toss him like a rag doll. just a firm lifting in to the truck.

I allways have fresh water by there kennel box, so when we get in from a hunt they will automaticly go to the dox box for water. My dog looks at the dog box for two things 1-to go hunting , when shes loaded in that box it means one thing..HUNTING. and 2 at the end of a hunt that is a place of comfort from the cold or heat and there is all ways water there. I allso dont give them there final pets and praises to there on the truck.

Just my humble opinion...My wife never listens to me if that means anything..lol

Most my pups do this but not at this late in the game. After out in the field I will leash them up away from the truck and take them to the truck or trailer and simply make them get in with a command of "Kennel" in due time they get the drill down.
Nothing sets one off more than a dog that won't kennel and then goes about and beyond won't come when they know kennel is the next stop!

True story here! I had a dog in just a month ago to breed to my stud. I watched as the owner loader her in my trailer when I picked her up. Nothing short or a monkey and a football! They also asked that I kennel there dog in my garage as she was a house dog. I did as they wished. The first night same monkey and football routin! By the second night she had run of the garage! Reason for this tid bit "SLOW KNIGHT AT WORK", fact get a handle on the dog while you can! :D

Another little trick that might work is to use some bait. I would work with this in the garage or driveway, with a check cord on. Bring the dog to the truck and toss some bait such as liver sausage in front of the crate. Let the dog step up to eat it. Little by little toss the bait further into the crate untill the dog will jump in to get the bait. I would not rush this. Let the dog figure out that there is a reward to enter the crate. Sometimes it may require that the first couple of times you start with this, the crate should be out of the truck and on the ground. Hope this works for you.

Heap on the praise when he does what you like. You will always have that..may not always have a treat.

Take your dog hunting somewhere cold!! They learn quickly to love their box then. Later, Aaron
