My Brittany and Cat

Well, it finally happened. After 6 weeks of chasing, standoffing, submission grappling, boxing, and wrestling the inevitable has happened....

I am so temped to let my girls sort it out themselves, but my britt is big enough to actually hurt them and they dont have front claws anymore. :(
The Cav must just be a funny looking cat to them they tolerate her. LOL

We had completely ignored these two's relationship. When they would wrestle, it never seemed that serious, so we'd just kind of monitor it a bit without intervening. The dog never would bite, although the cat would. They would just kind of lock up, but they almost seemed to enjoy it and no one seemed to be getting hurt. The cat always had an out - jumping on a table or counter, or going down the stairs to the basement, and the pup is too scared to attempt stairs.

That is a great picture. My brittanys and cats play together often, it is quite fun to watch and most oftem better then anything available on TV!

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare.
And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

At my house the cats would never get off so easy, and have learned to leave the barn only with great caution.

I've always tried to keep an old tomcat around so the pups learn that cats are not fair game. It has woked quite well and they all get along fine after a short encounter or two.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

my fence jumping setter got out again the other day to chase the neighbors cat (thats the only time she jumps the fence!). well, this time she must have caught it. i saw her move toward the cat out of my sight behind a shed. next thing i know, i hear her yelp, then she comes running home with her tail tucked and screaming bloody murder like shed been shot!! the funny thing is, i think all she got was her ears boxed, as there was not a scratch on her!! not one! she gets along great with our house cat. hopefully this little incident will help keep her in the yard.

My L.M. will carry my wife's dashound cross or the cat around by the nap of the neck. Is real funny to watch the little dog try to turn and bite back, cant reach...lol Is kinda scary to wake up in middle of night from dog jumping on bed with the cat in mouth by nap of neck. Poor dog now sleeps on lead tied to my side of bed
