Anyone ever bought off gundog classifieds?

Post by natetnc » Tue Jan 08, 2008 3:48 pm

i don't mean the classifieds on this forum but this link http://www.gundogcentral.com/gundogs.php. i was wondering how honest these people are when posting the dog's capabilities. i have been thinking of getting a started dog and finishing it to my liking.

just asking generally about pros and cons

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

My pups litter was posted there and I'm extremely pleased. But as with all transactions check and double check. Its a big investment to jump into blindly.

Got my Ginger from this site:

http://www.fielddog.com/

couldnt belive her breeding and she was like 10 miles away from me. She has been one of the best so far for me as far as hunting goes.

checked out fielddog.com, it wasn't as user friendly but still a good site none the less. i feel more confident about these type of sites since no one has posted a bad story. i am cautious when it comes to stuff like this and will continue to do research on these sites until the actual purchase.

for started and finished dogs: are the sellers friendly about showing you what you are getting and giving you the chance to work with them before taking your money and sending you packing. would you suggest asking to go on a short hunt with the dog, if the season is in of course.

Gundog Central is owned and operated my me. In the two plus years that the site has been online I've only ever had to field three complaints, which isn't bad considering the amount of dogs that have been posted on the site. I try to verify and validate everyone's information that post on the site.

The best advice I can give, is to call the person that is advertising the dog. Ask alot of question and listen to what they say or don't say. If you're still interested in the dog after talking to the individual, if possible try to plan a trip to see the dog in action.
