Congrats to Wildrose and Bullett
Wildrose called me a little bit ago to let me know that Bullett won the OGD stake today at the GSPC of San Antonio, which finished his FC title.

Re: Congrats to Wildrose and Bullett

Thanks so much for the kind words.
So many people I owe for this achievement. Let's start with Bryan Long who for 12 years has been telling me I had the dogs to win with. Maybe even more important is Lou Gleber who got me started with a horse that's a field trialers dream and the opportunity to borrow daily when we trained together from his incredible book of Knowledge.
Again to Bryan Long who mentored me for three years, yelled at me when I was stupid and screwed my dogs out of a chance to win, kicked me in the butt when I was down and felt like I couldn't buy a win if they were on sale and took Bullett for me for a couple of months after his first two wins to gave him some opportunities I couldn't.
Thanks to my brace mate Hailey Killam and her scout Kiko who handled and scouted Bullett's Brace mate yesterday and even helped me out by letting me know, "he's way out front" one time when I thought the old man might be lost. There is no finer sportsman or competitor than Hailey.
Thanks to Bonnie Sue who scouted for me when I needed it most even though she was worn out and headed to the trailer when I asked her.
My sincere appreciation to the SAGSP club and the judges.
Perhaps most of all thank you to Roy Yamamoto who bred Bullett.
Last but not least Thank YOU BULLETT for being such a great dog yourself and such a fine producer of pups.
Here's a real short Bio on Bullett:
For his first five years Bullett was my number one “go to bird finder” when the chips were down, while guiding wild bird hunts, no matter what species we were after or state we were in. By the time he was four he'd mastered every species of upland bird from Texas to Washington State. I can't count the coveys and singles he pointed nor the retrieves to hand which were well over four thousand before I ever saw my first field trial.
He was nearly six before I broke him steady to wing and shot (always let him break on the rise) and he finished his FC in under four years with all of his placements coming in adult "major" stakes. He accumulated 12 championship points by winning four of 6 trials over a 10 month period from Feb14 08-Jan 24 09.
The good Lord blesses a man very rarely as he has me with such great friends and mentors and such a fine dog.
He'll be 9 in May and gets better every time we put him on the ground.CR

Congrats Charlie, I knew it was just a matter of time. And would it hurt you to smile just a little? Ha ha.
I had the pleasure to hang around Bullett a few times and he's just a very nice dog, very personable, loveable temperment.

Re: Congrats to Wildrose and Bullett
Well Chip Bullett can look good no matter where we are or what he's been up to. When that picture was taken though was after the sun flower walking trial last spring. Over three days I'd driven a thousand miles, judged all the amatuer stakes, plus ran 18 dogs in the same trial. Actually had 21 entries but got my wife to run three of the puppies for me that weekend!lvrgsp wrote:Congrats Charlie, I knew it was just a matter of time. Now the first thing I ask when I get invited to judge is "Is it a horse back or walking trial and is it two days or three".
Considering I felt like 205lbs of very old beef jerky at that moment I think I look teriffic!
Thanks. It's been a heck of a ride with a wonderful dog. Now I'm just going to keep him in shape, try to keep him broke, run him in an occasional limited stake and maybe let Dave run him in Amateur. Other than that I'm just going to try concentrating on the all breed gun dog championships with him. I have more of his offspring though that will be trialed this spring and they and Moose and the Britt will be getting most of the work from now on.

Re: Congrats to Wildrose and Bullett
Thanks Nancy. We have a litter coming up in couple of weeks with Bullett's son Duke (in my avatar) bred to Dave Scott's bitch Dixie (Mert/Clio). I'm thinking there's some real possibilities in that one!
We also tried breeding Bullett to Suzie again (Gave up on Sue and sold her finally) but I'm not real hopeful. CR
