Having fun at a NSTRA trial

Well, we drove a ways over to a trial in Louisiana this weekend and had a blast. The front came through early Saturday morning and it got COLD! Both days, my older dogs could only pull off fourth place finishes. They had a spot open for a bye dog in the last brace on Sunday so I put my pup in. I had every intention on running her as an unpaid bye but my girlfriend insisted on covering her entry encase she did something. Well, she did something alright! She ended up out placing all my other dogs and took a third place in the open trial. Here are some pictures of the trial if your interested. Laurie and I tried to capture all the fun.

She even got to ride up front on the way home! Well, for a little while, she wouldn't calm down so she went back in the trailer.

Thank you guys. The cover was really good. the pup and a few others learned really fast to use the rows. Honestly, I apologized profusely to my bracemate before the run that I had no idea what she was going to do. I asked the judge to stay on top of her so I could find her when she ran into the woods. She blew away all my expectations by NEVER leaving the field, calling off a safety bird and stopping to flush on a bumped bird as well as not chasing it. Had she not bumped that one bird we'd be in first. :roll: Well, the woulda, shoulda and couldas are part of this game. I'm pleased as punch she handled like a dream and even scored a 92 on obedience. I think it was the highest of the day. Her final score for a 4-4 with a back was 921 scoring high 80's and low 90's.
