Hi all~ To some of those who don't know me or my husband Keith I thought since I'm a new member on Gundog I'd post our newest National Champion picture for this year so far  This is NSDC/FC BDK's War Emblem "Emmie". We have raised Emmie since birth and then sold her a few years back to one of our great clients. Thanks for letting me share. 5 All Age Champion and Runner up were Chisholm Creeks Jacksorbetter "Jax" whom Rich Barber had been training this winter for us and owner Mark Wasserman while I was still working for AKC and FC Chisholm Creek's Cuttin Loose "Cutter" who is also owned by Mark Wasserman.

Thanks Greg, we were all pretty happy. We have 2 weekend trials left then we're done trialing for the summer, but then will have lots of training to do on dogs and horses (I have 2 young colts I've just got started back to riding).

Chip~ I liked him alot. I'll be in the market for one some day  I wished I could of seen him ride him, but not the time or the place yet. I'm sure Rich will send me some pictures just to get at me as he had told Keith when he went down to get him that I could go with. Right Keith said "NO WAY SHE'LL BE BRINING BACK MORE HORSES"!!

Hope you/we finish the last two trials strong. Also want to mention that they (Keith and Robbi) and us added a FC to the list. As FC Slick Kessie Joe "Kessie" finished her FC title this spring!!! Thanks so much to Keith and Robbi for Kessie's training, and to Richie Rogers for selling her too us! I know he is as happy as we are, as he keeps checking on her.
Congrats to a great spring!

Great job Bobbi, you guys kick butt. I have followed your accomplishments too many to list very impressive. Maybe you can campaign a dog for me someday.

Keep it up!!

Congrats on the wins and nice pics. I do have a question that's always puzzled me...

Why do field trialers always try to stack the dogs in the pictures? It sure doesn't do the dogs any justice and I think that's why the show folk always scoff about the looks of the field dogs. There's got to be a way to get a nicer picture of the dog!

stacking

Post by northern cajun » Mon May 07, 2007 9:22 pm

So what would you suggest and on the flip side many field people look at bench dogs and say that thing couldn't run. beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Would you say that the DC's that are stacked don't look good when they win in the field?

Not trying to start anything

I think all she is saying is most of the dogs don't stack and look bad. If a little time was spent working with them they would look better but I doubt if the handlers really care.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Yes, Ezzy, that's what I'm saying. I've seen published pictures of trial dogs, other than award pictures, in which I think the dogs look very sharp. The problem with *some* (not all!!) of the stacked pictures are the handler making the dog look either sway-backed, roached, strung up by it's head and tail - just not a pretty picture. But, I guess you're right, who wants pretty anyway.

I'll admit, I have some stacked show pictures I wouldn't show anyone! I like the look of a dog sitting at heel looking into the camera as well, if the stack doesn't work out. But in that case, if your dog has yellow eyes...OUCH!

Got to agree with you 100% Ted, but that is a pretty nice "glamour shot" in your Avatar! :P

It is pretty simple. We are not "stacking" the dogs at all. We are trying to get them to stand still long enough to take pictures. There is a big crowd around, especially at Championships, there are two, three, or even four dogs in a row, all interested in checking each other out. We have to try to get them to hold still for a long time, because there are usually several people in the crowd who want pictures. There is a stone under your left knee. There is usually someone in the crowd cracking jokes and heckling the winners. And most of all, the dogs want out of there to go look for some birds, which is what they are meant to do.

Robbi, Nancy, Keith, et al. your accomplishments and the quality of your dogs speak for themselves. We will see you at Bechtel in the fall.

I'm not sure what the heck a stack even is - I've always just tried to hold the dog still for a nice profile in the pics on the rare occasions we find ourselves in the winners circle. I suppose if I had Robbi's dogs and found myself lookin' into a camera every week trying to style up a dog, maybe I'd teach 'em some fancy pose!!

I looked through the pictures in this thread and I'm not sure what you're talking about....they all look like nice shiny sports cars to me!!

I'll 2nd Ted. It would be an honor and I'm sure I'd be smiling ear to ear....even with the crotchety fella! :P

More importantly, BIG CONGRATS Robbi and Keith and keep up the winning ways......uhhh, until I get to run against ya's in a few years :D

PS. All that practice Robbi and Keith have in the Winners Circle already has them giving some pretty good stacks! Look at the 07 GPC AA pix.

You come on up to the Championships and win, and I will stand in the picture with you. I will go talk to Ms. Gulledge and the rest and get a whole family portrait for you if you want. I will be the one doing the rabbit ears. :P

Which I forgot to mention. Besides the stone under your left knee, one of your "mates" is trying to make you look like Roger Rabbit while you hold that dog and smile for posterity.

Do you guys pick on each other when you are doing those "stack" photos, too?

Nahhhh, I don't pick on anyone on their stacks John.... I do one better.....

I stand ringside and talk about my Dalins "proper" tailset!

PS. WHEN I come up, IF I Win a Championship, somebody else is going to have to hold the dog for pix, because I'll be in the background doing cartwheels!

Who needs to win anything to do photos and cartwheels?? I do 'em if I just get through a brace with a find and the dog!!

One thing we did at the Everton Derby Classic this year was take real good winners photos with the dogs posed up real nice with the handler, scout and two judges. I've got a pro-grade Canon photo printer so ran home, did a little computer wizardry with the photos, printed 'em off and framed them up in some nice matted frames I'd prepared with engraved nameplates signifying the event and placement. I put the pictures out on display all weekend along with the prizes up for grabs in the Reg. 9 ASD. The winners got to bask in a little glory all weekend then took them home as a prize for their placements. Went over really well and I'll probably do it again. I had planned to do it on-site hauling the printer (about the size of a suitcase!) and my laptop out to the trial but decided I had enough on my plate on the grounds without worrying about that.
