GSPC of Nebraska
My boy Sonny won again in the Derby at the GSPC of Ne trial this past weekend at Branched Oak. Pat Waresk handles and trains Sonny. Thia is his third win in a row after winning the Derby Classic at the Sharptail Championships in Mt 2 weeks ago. Hope he can keep it up for Eureka.
Tim
ps.. I also had a chance to meet Robbie and Keith from BDK. What Quality people. Sonny ran against one of theirs and it was a pleasure. I look forward to seeing them again in Eureka.

Congrats! That was a big trial, from what I understand! I am sure you are proud of that bugger!

We have done something with nothing for so long we are now qualified to do everything with anything....

Hey Tim. I think I will probably see Pat this weekend, so will check on your dog. I am pretty sure Pat will be at the Hungarian Partridge Championship, which is where I am going. He did some horse training for me, and is friends with Eldon Hongo, the handler who has my NC.
Funny story involving Pat. I of course watched Spot's winning run in the National Championship. He established a point, Eldon flushed and all was in order. In the meantime, the other handler, John Steger, had ridden to the front about a quarter mile. We turned Spot loose and he ran to the front of Steger. All of a sudden we saw the trial party stop and there was another bird flushed, blank gun was fired. When we got up there Pat had Spot by the collar. I thought at first Steger's dog had established point and Spot had made some mistake and was picked up. But it turned out that Spot had established point in front of Steger, and his regular handler being too far away, the judges appointed Pat Waresk as alternate handler to do the flushing. Since Pat had no blank gun, the judges made Steger stop and loan his blank gun to Pat, who flushed and shot, all in order. Pat had Spot watered and ready to go when we got up there.
Then, near the end of the brace, we lost our scout. We had no idea where he was. So the judges appointed Pat as the alternate scout, and it was Pat who was able to find Spot at the end of time, so we won the NC.
It is traditional for the owner to give a present to the winning handler and scout. I bought a blank pistol for Pat and had it engraved with his name and "NC Spot," so he would never be without one again. I also gave him an official winner's cap that I had made.
Ask him, he will show you. Pat is a good man and a good trainer, always ready with a smile and a laugh. A former Marine Captain, he has been around the world. You made a good choice. Good luck with your dog.

I only know he was talking about all the Captains getting together some place on a ship in Asia. Does not surprise me he was an Lt. Col., really knows what he is doing. All I know is I am glad he is on our side.
I had both hips replaced, and was having a devil of a time getting back on a horse. I was chicken. I had this real nice gelding, and the horse figured out that if he bucked a little, he was not going to have to carry me. So I gave him to Pat last winter. Pat said he spent the first couple hundred yards or so mostly in the air, but the horse settled down. A couple of months later I showed up and Pat wanted me to ride him. He seemed to start acting up again and Pat said, "You just have to ride him, he will be fine." So I did, and that was the end of my problems with horses.
He also ran Spot in the R7 last spring. Eldon got sick. I think they got an RU Ch. in the OSD if I remember right.
