It was a good day

Post by Karen » Sat Mar 22, 2008 5:52 pm

I just got the call! Blazer Boy won the Southern New England Brittany Club's horseback open gun dog stake today! There were 31 starters so he now has the required major at a Brittany club and 5 points toward his FC (half way there!!).

We've had some setbacks along the way, but everything seemed to fall in line today. All of this is 2nd hand as he was run by some friends of mine....amateurs that I train with while my arm continues to heal, but they said that he had a really nice run, held his edges, had 4 perfect broke finds with lots of style and intensity, the first find his bracemate tried to steal point and then ripped out the bird and Blaze just stood there, and he finished strong, rimming the field in front of the clubhouse.

This also means that he's qualified for the ABC Gun Dog Nationals in October! He'll run his first hour stake in 10 days...we'll see how he does there.

Blaze is 3 yrs old and out of show lines so I couldn't be happier!! He also has a major in the show ring so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this boy earns his DC in the future.

HAPPY DANCE!!:-) :-)

Way to go Blaze. Too bad you couldn't have been there to watch.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Thanks Kristi and Ezzy!!

I guess I should have included Blaze's registered name....Britt Haven's Blaze of Glory. I don't have any current field pictures of him (we'll be taking some next weekend I'm sure), but I do have a show picture from last year.

Blaze is my first field trial dog and my first show dog. Still doing the happy dance!!
