Another Red Ribbon for Blaze

Blaze ran in the OGD stake (25 starters) today at the Delval Brittany Club's fall trial at the English Setter Club of America in Medford, NJ and brought home the red! My little boy is becoming quite consistent. I never thought he'd be able to fill up those grounds (they're probably the biggest/most wide open that we run on), but he did a job I was very proud of...nice forward run, held his edges, 4 finds, the last being a covey of 9 birds.

I want to thank Lisa Pollock for bringing over her babysitter horse for my son to ride also. It was only his 3rd time on a horse ever, and he was a bit nervous, but Quinn took great care of him and Lisa was great and he got to see his dog run for the first time. Hopefully he tries it again soon!!

And Kudos to Lisa for helping out with the horse. What a great thing to do. I have been so impressed with the way people help each other out in this sport. These are my kind of people. Sure, everyone is competitive and wants to win but, for the most part, they also are having fun.

Congrats again Karen & Blaze!!! Way to go and qualify for 2009 already! And yes Sambuca- this is a wonderful sport. I tell people all the time that if it weren't for the friends we have and the socialization NO WAY would I field trial my dogs. It's expensive, time consuming and can be extremely frustrating. If we didn't have friends there to cheer us on, help us, celebrate with us and cry with us- it really wouldn't be worth it. We could take the dogs hunting and enjoy watching them work birds. The people in the field trial world make it the sport it is- that's for sure. Kristi

Thanks guys! I still can't believe what a good year Blaze has had! The Magnum's Masked Man list was updated today (not including this placement) and Blaze is ranked in the top 30 Brittany gun dogs in the country right now. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd do this well. I can't thank Pete DeAngelis enough for all the time, effort and patience he's had with both Blaze and me.
