AKC #1 GWP Top Dog...

Our Trish tied for first for the 2008 AKC GWP Top Dog. We are so proud of how she has done this year in her first year of trials. We had 8 total placements and had 2 Major Wins.

Congratulations I am always glad to see Wilsons pups in the top ten. I hope you and Brenda take both dogs to the GWP Nationals this year. If everything works out the old man (Wilson) will be running in the Amateur and National Championship. Ray also is running another Wilson pup in the puppy derbys that is doing real good.

anyone know how that report works? I'm confused... one of mine has 7 placements.... report only shows 3 , and no wins. And he had wins.

It is only "Open" placements and will not include Puppy or Derby...we had 8 placements this year and have almost all of our Am points also (just missing some retrieving points) and it only shows 4 placements for Trish. Did you have Am placements? Puppy or Derby?

Congrats to you regardless...7 placements is pretty awesome for any dog in a year.

Ahhh, only open placements... explains that! thanks. Half of our were Am. placements...

I've been watching the results with Trish tearing it up down there, that's exciting! I do hope we get to see her at the Nationals.
This year will be the club's 50th anniversary, so it will be a huge party....

According to the AKC report, Marley only had 5 placements for the whole year which is the same number of placements that he had back in May. We all saw him win the NFC and chances are he finished in the money a few times last Fall.

I wondered about Marley's placements also??? I don't think Greg really ran him after the nationals and maybe the Nats don't count towards this (who knows)??? I was never quite sure what to make of this report, but am still proud my girl made the report. I know some breed clubs use it to determine their rankings...it will be interesting to see how the GWP Club field rankings turn out if they ever update them.

Ray has quite a few dogs that are top 10 in a few different breeds so I don't know which one he was calling about. Ray is pretty good about not running dogs in OGD that could take points away from other dogs that need them. Without an OLGD he has a bunch of dogs that he can't run.

The GWPCA works on the total amount of dogs defeated. The have an Open, an Amateur, a Combined Gun Dog Top Ten and then a Puppy/Derby Top Ten.

The next issue of the Wire News coming out will be the Nationals results issue. The finals for 2008 will not be in there since the deadline was November 1 or 15th.

I'll have to email the person who keeps the stats and see if she will send the finals (if she has them done yet) to the webmaster for www.gwpca.com. I know she used to work off of the Results Book from AKC and they were always about 3 months behind. I don't know if that has changed or not. In fact, I'm not sure where exactly she gets her data, AKC somewhere.....

I never realized AKC put this data online, wish they would make it more understandable..... but's it's great that they do it!
