Cherrystone had a repeat of last year's Derby! Cissy/Marie, Cherrystone La Reine De Pearls, placed second in the National Derby in Ardmore, OK. in a thirty dog stake. Greg Dixon, of Backwoods Bird dogs, has done a wonderful job of working with her in the development of her natural talents.
During her run she kept to the front, dug into heavy cover, ran a stylish race, and had a very stylish point. (which I didn't get to see as she was in such heavy cover!!)
So she is following in her big sister, Scarlett's, footsteps. I hadn't seen her since last April when I handed her off to Diane Vater to get to Greg. I am very proud of this puppy as she was one of the youngest running in the Derby. She has a big future ahead of her and with Greg's training and handling she should do very well.
I got to see some friends that I dont' see very often and watch a bunch of dogs run. Lots of laughs and good food and adult beverages! It was very cold much of the time with temps at one point being 15 F. Good thing I brought lots of warm clothes along with hot packs for the insides of my boots and gloves.
Boy I look really little compared to everyone else in this picture!! Cissy's/Marie's handler is a very tall guy.
