First FT brag

Post by ACooper » Sun Feb 20, 2011 11:20 am

Just a small brag on my boy Dez, he ran in his first trial yesterday. The trial was hosted by the Weimaraner club of Tenn Valley. It was the first time he had been handled from horseback, he had four finds and from what Brenda tells me an excellent retrieve in the callbacks. He dealt with some bracemate interference and still managed to keep it all together and finished 2nd! I am very proud of him.

Also thanks to Brenda Roe for doing such a good job with him.

Congrats Andy on Dez's FT placement, sounds like Snips was on top of things. Hope you didn't finish second to a dog that only had one find............? Oh, and was it a weim that finished first?........

Coop, You did a great job picking your pup and your trainer. Now all of you have won and have something to be proud of.

Dez is shaping up very nicely...Judge stopped on her way thru town tonite and had dinner with Rick and I. She was still talking about his find where I was in stuff over my head trying to flush, then I tripped and fell...Bird flew out just over Dez's nose...I fired the blank laying on the ground  I had to ask if Dez handled it (I could not see him)...They said he stood perfect:)

Thanks everyone. As I said I am proud of him, I bought a NAVHDA bred pup to be a bird dog first and run hunt tests and NAVHDA. I never thought he would have developed as he has... off to a good start. We will see how it goes. The credit to this point goes to Brenda for doing a great job with him. My future plans are still to test UT and hunt the snot out of him.

Terry I don't know how many finds the winner had but it was a GSP owned by the Erbe's I am sure it is a nice dog!

Steve I hope you are right, I hope he starts rolling. Going to be a lot of competition and he is young, he wont be two until May 29th.

Way to go Coop,

Congrats. Now for the hard part, Ruuuuuuunnnnnnn Away as fast as you can. You'll give up hunting, spend endless nights thinking about the next trial, impatiently sit by the phone waiting for results, and dream about trucks, trailers, horses, and your next derby dog. But, if that doesn't scare you, welcome to a great sport.

Congrats again to Brenda and you,

Bill
