Everedi Blazin' Inferno - first leg of MH

Post by RoostersMom » Mon Mar 07, 2011 12:54 pm

Hey guys and gals,

Exciting news for me.... My dog Rooster passed his first attempt at MH this Sunday. I elected to skip SH altogether and just realized that he got his JH title about 4 years ago - about the time I left the Conservation Department. So I guess the good news is he passed and the bad news is that I've been way too busy these past 4 years and I need to work the dogs into the mix a bit more!

It was a fun test, the judges were nice and helpful. Though I did get a question from some folks in the audience because Rooster retrieves to hand and then sits while I take the bird. Some folks in the audience thought he shouldn't pass because of this, but the judges thought it was fine. Interesting... I know the debate rages on teaching a birddog to sit, but that's just how we do the retrieves.

Congratulations on the pass. I believe as long as the presentation is fluid, the dog can sit, or even stand.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

I see no problem with the dog sitting while delivering the bird.
