Snips Sixth-Sens Wyatt's first "Blue"

Post by 1doogie » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:50 pm

We ran Wyatt (2 years old next month)this past weekend in his second adult field trial at the Mason Dixon GSP club in MD. It was a 3 point retrieving Major with competition was out of this world with some very nice Dogs. I got to meet a bunch of new people all super friendly and willing to share their knowledge. Wyatt ended up running in the last brace of Open Gun Dog and What I believe to be the best brace of the day! Both Dogs Looked amazing and ran with great style. Wyatt had 2 finds that he handled flawlessly. What I believe put the cherry on top was when we noticed the brace mate standing on point and Wyatt was out of the picture. We had to walk a very good distance till we got to the standing dog. Wyatt remained out of sight till we arrived at the brace mate and noticed Wyatt honoring in the adjacent treeline. He stood there with his chest out and his head held high with all the confidence in the world. Wyatt's brace mate ended up taking 2nd and I can only imagine how hard of a decision it was for the judges to pick a winner! Both Dogs were truly amazing!
Big Thanks to Bruce Shaffer Of Almost heaven Kennels for an awesome job training and handling Wyatt! Bruce and Wyatt really are forming a chemistry that is going to be hard to beat in the future! Bruce really can make a dog shine!

It was an amazing brace to watch...Wyatt did a nice job!!!! Congrats! Bruce did a fine job of handling Wyatt as well. It was a very quiet brace with minimal speaking...Both handlers just let the dogs do their thing and make some magic.

Nice dog ya got there!!!!! :D

Many more blues to come

Jen, I believe you should be posting a "brag" for yourself!!! You had some darn nice shorthairs at the event and went home with pleny of ribbons yourself. I would be honored to have Wyatt run against your dogs anyday!! :D I hope our paths cross again sometime soon!

You still have your head in the clouds Jon?

Wyatt had a he!! of a nice run and he and Raven worked the course so well together, that one couldn't help but smile at the end, as was evidenced by the looks of the dozen or so gallery and the compliments they showered upon both dogs. For me, looking back and seeing both Judges grinning ear to ear as we picked up, told me that Wyatt and Raven had given the performance they had been waiting to see. The differences between the two dogs in that brace were so minute, that their runs really had to come under pretty hard scrutiny to develop what separated Blue from Red.

Being braced with a Class Handler such as Dennis and a Class Shorthair such as Raven, allowed both dogs to really put on a show that painted a picture in the Judges minds, that didn't include handlers in it shouting and hollering. You got a really super nice young dog there, that isn't going to do anything but get better as he matures.

Ultracarry,
I'd be more interested in seeing Jon handling Wyatt in Iowa in October at the NAGDC. For my taste, that's what it's really all about, seeing an owner taking a dog I've finished and going out and having a he!! of a lot of fun with them. Will you be coming to Iowa? Will you be handling your dog in Kansas?

I'm still the low man on the todem pole so permitting I have the time off from work ... I won't be able to do Iowa unless her trainer (vizsla pro) has an event that way but Kansas is a yes. Everything depends.

I did all the work with the trainer before I was working as much as I do now but for the dog I decided she needs to be worked more then I could work her..... everything depends on everything else.

Doug,
The Hickman Ranch in Grand River, Iowa according to the flyer in the current issue of Arlene Walker's GSP Online Chronicle. Great online publication for Shorthairs if you don't get it, found here: http://www.gspchronicle.com/
