New Title

Post by VizslaGirl » Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:16 am

I'm very proud of my little girl, Cali. We ran both days of a hunt test, needing one more leg to finish her Senior Hunter. Unfortunately, on Saturday, Cali missed a dog on point and blew a back. I've never seen her miss an honor before, but we all know they save that kind of stuff until someone is watching! Later in the same brace, she demonstrated her typical, snappy honor...but it was too late.

On Sunday, I was already discouraged, but we went out to have fun. Cali stood every bird that was blanked in the running field (I think she had 3 finds in that field) and had a beautiful honor to her bracemate. She had a covey in the bird field, was steady to flush/shot and had a nice retrieve. She had 2 more finds in the bird field, both missed by the gunner, but was steady as could be. On her last bird she had to hold her point for several minutes until I could get a judge's attention, and then had to turn my back and crawl into a bush to flush the bird...she never moved a muscle!

Cali is 22mos old and my husband and I have muddled our way through her training, all 3 of us learning as we go. It's a great feeling when hard work pays off!

Congrats - we all know, if it can go wrong it will! Rooster and I are hoping to finish his MH this spring, just haven't had time to get him to the tests. Sounds like you guys are doing well with your dog - and I bet she's having fun too. Why don't you come on out to Missouri in March to start your MH runs - maybe we would be braced together!

It always goes wrong when someone is watching :D
You never know! I have friends in NW Arkansas, so we may find ourselves out that way someday. For now, Cali is going back in the show/obedience ring to get it out of the way.
