Are both of those Ruffies the PA spookie ones or just the regular run of the mill Ruffies?

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I am a born and raised PA hunter and I never knew till this forum that we had the spookies birds to hunt in the world (guess we are really good)!!

Nice looking dog and birds!

All grouse are spooky.

Nice job Dutch7! My last two forays to PA were a bust, I was trying some new spots I found using satellite recon and despite some really nice birdy looking cover, I think I was:

1. Too far south for good bird numbers
2. In an area that gets a lot of traffic

I mean it was dead, not even a squirrel or rabbit. Nothing. Ah well, can't test the cover without putting boots on the mountain. A couple of nice walks in the woods with the dogs though. Now we get to spend the summer training and looking forward to next season!

Sailor - yes that was a good day not unlike our "last" day of the previous season when we bagged 3 of those "spookie" ones when it was 5 degrees!

Ezzy - can you clarify because i don't consider any PA grouse a "run of the mill" bird and to mudhunters point i am personally not that good, just was finally able to connect on a nice day hunting over two good dogs.

NJ - i am already planning for the spring season training etc and looking forward to it.

Thanks all for your responses,
Dutch

Hey Dutch , Nice job thanks for the pics...Here is someone you will recognize...
This young lady got these birds this season...She been helping me since she was 9 to train all my gun/trial dogs...See is going to be Vet , college next year.Mc Kayla is going to be something special to the GSP breed..She needs one more leg of Seniors for her GSP Gaby. She is hooked....Don't under estimate this young lady she can shoot...Metals from y-island and other shooting events.... This was a good day :D
