My Dog was 05 Ohio Derby Dog of the Year

Post by Buckeye_V » Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:46 pm

We bought this dog from our breeder and the AKC just called and said that she was the 2005 Ohio Derby Dog of the Year (for all breeds). I knew she was good and had lots of potential, but I had no idea she was THAT GOOD! Wow!

Now, if we can get her to hold her point and not chase the birds.......

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I didn't know that AKC kept track of each states Field Trial Dog of the Year. Is there a page on the AKC site that lists the Dog of the Year for each state?

How does AKC determine the Dog of the Year? Is it by dogs defeated or by points?

My breeder campaigned her through the wins. For medical reasons they could not breed her, but were looking to sell her. We wanted a pup out of her anyways, so we decided to purchase her and have had her for over a month now. I plan to trial her as long as her health holds up, as she will be a great trailing dog (which is what I wanted!).

I will be breaking the dog with my breeder and Greg's assistance, as I am new to this. Hopefully we can get that done by this fall. We are not going to rush things.
