and another win!!

Post by ultracarry » Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:43 am

So dezasterous gundogs gave me a invite and we took off for the gsp club of Reno trial where Kimber picked up a first in the walking OGD. It was a 4 point major with 18 dogs. She started pretty big and was scouted by Matt who had her the entire time (great job because I sure didnt have her). she had one find with perfect birdwork and even smiled after the bird was shot. Walked all the way back to her (Because I was running and even threw my hat to try to get the thing to fly) and tapped on the head for the retrieve.

On Sunday in the amateur Matt again did a good scouting job and I didn't see him until he was bringjng her back up to the front after she made a right turn and went to run the tree line on the mountain (which would have been a great move in an all age stake) But we made a left. Judge leaned over and told me I brought a race car to the walking trial and she was just not a gun dog. I laughed, thanked them both and did the always popular "walk of shame".

Now.its back to training for the fall!

Congrats, is this the same dog we ran on quail in that little 20 acre spot behind my house without a collar with no problems and then hunted her in cover up to our necks with no issues? Or do you have a trial dog that looks just like that hunting dog?

You should list all the wins and placements and titles. Seems you got a wicked good run going there. Congrats.

I was thinking it was a lot but holy smokes. That is impressive. Well done.

How do you find the time to get into all these events?
I envy you at least your dog.

Almost all of those are within a 12 hour drive... I had her with pro #1 who handled her in some, I handled her in some, and I sent her with pro #2 to get familiar with him. She didn't place with the new pro in three trials this spring but I sent her to get familiar with him not expecting her to do anything.

I handled her to six wins and one second. She would win on her own without me if I didn't need to flush the bird and blank :P , because I sure don't know what I'm doing.
