Off to a good start

Post by Jagerdawg » Sun Sep 16, 2012 5:40 pm

Jackson is my third gsp. My first 2 were my experiences training a versatile dog. They weren't competion dogs just good solid hunters. When I got Jackson he learned so fast I thought I had something special. I joined NAVHDA and studied the AKC hunt test and field trial rules. I want to see what he and I are capable of. Last month at 6 months old Jackson ran the Michigan NAVHDA chapters NA test. He scored a 112 prize 1. Last weekend I handled him in 2 AKC junior hunter tests. He passed with 4 nines saturday and 3 nines and a ten sunday. This weekend I handled him in the first field trial him or I have ever done. He took 3rd in the open puppy division. I know it wasn't first but it was our first time and he has been trained by me. I'm really proud of him and I think he has had a great start. I know know he has alot more to give if I can just bring it out, not too bad for 7 months and me training him :D

Good job. I couldn't win an open puppy to save my life. My dog never even placed in OP. So you may be hooked now?

Congrats Jager. Nice looking pup and it sounds like you're doing a great job training. Best of luck.
You could live without a dog, but it would not be worthwhile.

It is saturday and we are at the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Indiana hunt test. Jackson passed today even with the wind gusting. If he passes tomorrow he earns his Junior Hunter.

Thank you again everyone. Jackson did it again. He is now a junior hunter. Conditions were bad this weekend but he did it like a champ. Rest tomorrow then back at it next weekend we start testing senior hunter.

Saturday at the Oak Ridge Pointing Dog Club in Harrisville, Pa. Dual hunt test, Oak Ridge and GSPC of Ohio. Jackson passed 2 legs of his senior hunter today averaging over 8 for both tests. He is only 8 months old. I am so proud of him. Everyone of these tests we come too he gets so many compliments on his calmness, looks and obedience. Thank you everyone for the support. It is truely appreciated. Wish us luck tomorrow, we can finish out his senior hunter title. Fingers crossed.

This is a nice pup! I have to admit I thought you wee crazy to run an 8 month old in seniors, but I was very impressed. Congrats to you both.

Yes I do plan on MH and UT next fall maybe this spring for MH if I feel he is ready. I had a great time in Pennsylvania thank you

Very impressive both as to the dog and trainer. That's quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to the both of you.
