Betty's 1st and 2nd Duck hunts

Post by jaymil9 » Tue Oct 23, 2012 1:12 pm

I just wanted to share my 1 year old golden retriever puppies first two days in the duck blind. The first day was a little rough on Betty. She didn't like the blind to much ( my fault for not taking her out before) and she wasn't sure of the duck (also my fault). My buddy and I did limit out in about 90 minutes so there was that which was nice.

The second day was awesome she hoped right in the pit blind and my all the retrieves. We only shot 8 ducks but she made all the retrieves all blind and all multiple birds. I was a very proud Papa.

Good work Betty! We just got a female GR pup, she's 13 weeks now and should be ready (hopefully) for next fall's duck season. Did you follow any particular training regiment or use a book or system to get her up to that level and ready to go by 1 year old? I'm hoping my little Lola would do as good as Betty did on her first duck hunts next fall.
