We drove up to the Weim Club of Greater Louisville and Kentuckiana Pointing Breed Association back-to-back trials in KY this weekend. Since finishing Cali's MH, our training has consisted mostly of re-building Cali's confidence and run... and it worked!
Cali absolutely blew me away with her run in AGD on Thursday. She was out of sight as soon as she broke away, and we caught glimpses of her up ahead for the next few minutes. She was making really nice moves and looked great. After losing sight of her for longer than I was comfortable with, I heard one of the judges say, "that dog just ran the whole field!" - sure enough, she came flying around, after running the edge of the entire first field! She ran big and up front for the entire brace. She was found standing 3 times and had 1 stop to flush, all handled beautifully. She got called back for the retrieve (as the sun was setting...) and handled it very nicely.
Cali's run earned her first place and a 3-point Retrieving Major! This was her 4th trial, and her first FT win. I couldn't be prouder of my girl. This win (with 2 previously earned retrieving points) gives Cali all of her retrieving points, as well as her major win.
Cali also got her first open placement, with a 4th place in OGD Ret (20 dog stake) and took a 3rd place in ALGD (13 dog stake) - she placed in all 3 stakes she ran in this weekend and we both had a great time!
