new pup(update)

Post by Tyler S » Sat Jan 12, 2013 11:24 pm

I ended up getting this pup a month ago. A young couple in town had bought him, dont hunt, and really didnt know what they were getting into. A story I think we hear all to often. Ive got 5 dogs so what the heck one more wont hurt. He didnt have any (Zero) training. Ive been working with him for a while almost everyday. He was good to go around guns, plenty of drive, and a pretty good disposition. We hunted wild birds with my older dogs for a couple of hours (75 degrees here at 930 this morning). I didnt hunt 2 of my dogs this morning so decided to plant some birds for them. Said what the heck and let the pup out to. The two older dogs locked up on a bird, the pup came running and slammed on brakes when he caught sight of the other two. I tried to push him, nothing doing. ive shot a few birds over him , but hes never been out with the others, besides just running or playing. I think i may have gotten lucky.

Here is Kreuzer. 6mos old monday

Don't know. The couple didn't send the papers off and they are trying to find them. Ill probably never know. It's been a month. I really don't think I can pressure them since they gave me the dog.

I do know I probably saved him from a rescue or worse. That's how bad it was. As I stated, a story we here way to often nowadays.

I'll post up some more pics later on

Congrats on the luck! Looks to being doing great. Helps having an excellent teacher and opportunity.
Hope I'm just as "lucky" when I get my new pup.

Kreuzer has really came into his own the past 2 months. Starting to grow straight up and thinning out a good bit. He turned 8 months today. I used him on a preserve hunt yesterday and he pointed a bird ahead of two grown dogs. I left my phone in the truck and couldn't get a pic of him with the two older dogs backing  I did get a couple training last week. Amazing what 2 months difference makes. One more hunt next weekend and that will finish us up till next year. With 6 months of training ahead iam excited to see him work this fall!
