Doing the Brittany dual thing....

Looks like this girl will be our first home-grown show CH. This is Woodland's Water Fairy (aka Misty Moo). I put the first 9 points and 1st major on her from the bred by class, then handed her over to Rachel Kulp last week (you know...field trials take priority over dog shows

) to show a few times. Her first show out with Rachel she went best of winners for her 2nd major, so she's now sitting on 12 points and both majors...and is entered in a few more shows to hopefully pick up those last 3 singles she needs.
Moo's dad is a DC, her dam a show CH who was broke to run trials, but then got sidetracked. Moo has a couple of puppy placements and with a little luck, will be broke this summer (she's 17 months old now). I'm going to run her in a couple derby stakes this season for fun (once she's out of season).
With legs like those, how could she NOT fly

Really really nice. Thats what a Britt should look like. Bet she can fly when she wants to get somewhere in a hurry. You have done a great job with your dogs and their breeding.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I was wondering about maybe showing my 2.5 yr old Brittany male. For you experienced Britt owners does this dog look like it would have show potential ? Keeping in mind he hasn't been groomed in about 12 months and he spent the morning in the lake trying to retrieve live seagulls the day this picture was taken....lol! He does have a fair bit of CH titled dogs in his pedigree.

If he is in size he should have little trouble in the ring from what can be seen.

He's at 20.5", 43lbs but he broke off his bottom right canine tooth so it has been capped off ($$Kaching$$). Would that take him out of contention? I have also been told that many judges consider the liver color to be a negative thing although he is a carbon copy of his mother and she did get the CH designation.

Congrats Karen, way to get it done.
Terry, you can't show a dog with a capped tooth.

If the weight is right, and 43 lbs is too specfic to not be, I think you need to measure him accurately with a wicket. Most in shape 40+ lb Britt are closer to 22".
Nice looking guy.

This surprised me, and seems unfortunate to disqualify for a restorative, but I did find AKCs rule on it. Nice looking dog though.
6. Restorative dental procedures, the use of bands or
braces on teeth, or any alteration of the dental arcade
Beautiful dog Karen. I'm glad people like you, dual dogs.

I know it's crazy! You can pull the tooth and still show but if you spend extra $ to save the tooth you get excused.

Thanks everyone! We're absolutely thrilled. Misty Moo is our first home-grown show champion by our DC and show CH. We JUST picked her brother up from training on Friday on our way to the MD Brittany Club trial and were absolutely thrilled with him (he got to run derby). Chloe (Woodland's Money Pit) took a 3rd in the OAA so we just had a great weekend!

Thanks everyone!
Misty Moo's brother, Forrest, is our next show ring project. He just returned from a few months of field training down south, but won't be broke until the summer, so we're going to try to get him finished too.
Forrest currently has a 4 point specialty major from the Bred By class and a few single points so we have some work to do:

You know the show people don't like that tail... but um, I don't see ANYTHING wrong with it... hmmm maybe it's my biased opinion
