Boar Trial

Now that we made it through the HZP I took Alma and Diemo down to the boar trial over the weekend. It was our first time attending one, and also the first exposure for both of them on a 250+ lb boar. I entered them together and we finished 11th out of 43 entries and that's running against the pros. I was very happy with their performance on their first go around. I ran Alma a 2nd time in the "young and old dog" category with a very experienced dog and she did even better than the first time. Needless to say I spent a lot of time answering questions about what kind of dogs are those.

I would be interested in hearing more about this. What is a boar trial and what is the format?

I have never heard of a Boar trial. But either way, ll out of 43 very well done. Would like to hear more as well.

Out here they are commonly referred to as a "bay pen contest".

They didn't allow cameras, on Sat they had a professional taking some pics that folks had the option to buy. A big storm moved in about 3pm there and she closed up shop and wasn't there on Sun when we attended.
I tried to post a few pics from the trial and of our duck hunt in LA last week in another thread I guess my pics are to big now. They used to post just fine?
