Sunday we went to some private land and had her chasing wild pheasants. She pointed and retrieved 5 of them. One retrieve was extra awesome. I just lightly winged the bird (bad shot) and it hit the ground running. Maddie chased it across a field, up a long coulee with heavy cover, back down the same coulee, and then in circles around a stubble field before she finally caught up to it. At one point in the coulee she was getting frustrated and yipping and barking at the bird, but she didn't give up. I had to look at her track on the GPS to see where all she went chasing that bird, most of the time I just heard her crashing through heavy cover. It was a good thing we were heading back to the truck, poor dog was toast after that retrieve!
