2014 ABC Chukar Classic Championship

I just got home from a great week with the folks in Idaho. We ran the American Brittany Club Chukar Classic during the week, for those of you unfamiliar this is one of a handful of 1 hour all-age dual sanctioned classics that the ABC puts on annually, over the weekend we had an Idaho Brittany Club trial with 1/2 hour stakes. We had classic Idaho weather to run in, across the board the weather was cold and the wind consistent, the unwanted bonus was intermittent blowing sleet, snow ice and hail. More than once we had to stop and turn horse fannies to the wind and wait out a squall that you could not ride in..fortunately the unbearable pieces usually only lasted for moments.
I do have some brags to share and maybe I should feel a little shame in it but I am too high now to be of good sense...My two males a father and son team split the champion and runner up of 24 starters for the second time this year. Sonny won with his son Patch taking runner - up a reversal of their order in the ABC Western Open in January. We all appreciated the judge's attentiveness (clearly no one more than I), our own photog deluxe Doug Favor ( I met he and his wife; he a gentlemen, and she every bit as charming as you may suspect ) and John Cushing a grizzled vet of many trials and many breeds. Doug is the tall chap in the back and poor John is blocked out in the photo. My dogs are being posed by my dear friends Paul and Peggy Doiron, Paul handles for me when I cannot go and serves as my scout, harder working more sincere dog and horse folk you will not find. To polish up my week, Patch won the OAA over the weekend and Sonny was third, lastly my thanks for the support of Purina and Tri-Tronics products that I use and support, their sponsorship means a great deal. I shall exhale now and get back to work...
