This was the same trial that Sarah ran in Am. Derby, however this is my boy Rocky running in the Open Gun Dog stake. Just like the last trial his first cast took him to a treeline. I finally found him 10 min. into the brace dug in on point, unfortunately he was out of bounds.
Hope you enjoy the pics.
The breakaway.
Dusting the hairy dog!
On his way to the distant treeline!
Got him back in bounds and he stuck this bird and the setter backed.
Yours truly flushing the bird. It flew directly over the gallery so I couldn't shoot. They were all diving for cover. Pretty funny.
A little water break for my boy.
His last find.

Thanks Brenda & John,
In the NBHA Gun Dog stake, all birds are shot. The scoring system is very similar to NSTRA. Points for finds, kills, retrieves, backs, etc. The biggest difference, and something that I like, is that it is run on a 30 min. walking course rather than a single bird field.
In the NBHA Open Shooting Dog, only one bird is killed on course for the retrieve. That allows the NBHA to remain in compliance with AF.
