New FC
Congratulations to Wayne Wiener of Minnesota and pro Greg Dixon. At the Twin Cities German Wirehaired Pointer Club trial this past weekend they finished new FC Oak Hollow's Extreme Jake with a win in the Open Gun Dog, at the age of 2 years 7 months. It was his second major win.
He is the product the first litter sired by NC/FC Willows on the Spot, out of FC/AFC Wildhaven's Determind Daisy.
Jake's dad was on hand at the trial, resting and visiting old friends, and was believed to be pleased with his son's accomplishment.

John
I forgot Spot was Jake's sire. I congratulated Wayne and Mary and Greg for the accomplishment, but I should have gone on over and scratched someone elses ears for doing his part...that would be Spot.
Another nice little brag for team Spot.
Had a good time out there yesterday and we will see you this upsoming weekend again.

That weekend was so great for me, Chris, I can't tell you. Jake's win, as nice as it was, was just a tiny little corner of it. Got a big bear hug from Gary Nehring who came out to visit. For those who do not know, Gary won the GSPCA NFC (all Age) with solid liver Ammertals Boss Ranger in 1979. He is a great friend from the old days. Gary Pihlstrom also came out. Pat Waresk, Dennis Brath, Art Armbrust were there, all friends from the NGSPA circuit, and then all the "new" friends I have gotten to know the last few years, you, Clark, on and on. And of course, that little club is the one that Sue and Bruce Mueller and Shannon and Dale Florek and I started 25 years ago, lucky to scrap together 40 entries and two horses for a trial. There were 115 entries and every thing was smooth as silk this weekend.
Richard Walters and his NFC Slick's Shellshocked Frank were there. Dixon's two NFC GWP's, Marley and Lewis were there and Lewis won the OLGD. Spot was there and got all the ear scratchin' he could have wanted. He is a character.
I am just sitting here this morning, a little sore, but considering how lucky I have been to have all these friends to enjoy life with.
See you next weekend.

I told Pat Waresk you were on your way with the syrup. He chuckled. He got it.
I signed about half the placements in the trial, but don't have registered names. Here is the OLGD, I will dig up the Puppy and Derby:
OLGD (24 entries):
1. Backwoods Longshot (Lewis)
2. Tenacious Tucker (an ES, very nice dog)
3. Cadens Ruger Weltmeister (a very very nice dog, multiple hour wins)
4. a dog of Larry Loftin's
Spot does not know anything about good years, he only knows it is warm out, he is being petted alot, and he is having fun. Clark Linn and his wife had a litter of very nice puppies there. Spot sat and played with one for awhile.

Congrats to Wayne and Mary Wiener! I haven't seen two of them for about 8 years. Not since Wayne and I started to run our dogs in the hunt test. Not to bad for a high school mate from Belgrade, MN

Re: New FC
Nice to see ya again John, sorry we didn't get to chat a little longer. I would have stuck around, but had a bunch of errons to to run in the afternoon. We should get together some weekend when the trials are done and maybe shoot some sporting at Wild Marsh. You would appreciate what they have done to the place.Wagonmaster wrote: Jake's dad was on hand at the trial, resting and visiting old friends, and was believed to be pleased with his son's accomplishment.

Yes, geez Tom, how could I forget. You came and we got to talk for awhile. The whole day was just like that. Mr. Hart also called and will be in Minn. later in the week. Wants to stay here or up in Superior permanently. Likes us better than FL for some odd reason. So I think we will be visiting Wild Marsh, although I was out there just a couple of years ago for a tournament.

I know Bob well, he had my young male Maverick last summer and fall for a total of 5 months. He is a great guy and trainer and may be on of the best in the brittany venue right now, especially in GunDog.
Bob always comes away with a pile of ribbons his dogs know their jobs well.
I have no reservations about recomending Bob as a trainer to anyone.
Hope you got to see some good dogs run sir and enjoyed your ride.

In my opinion you wrapped Bob up correctly in your statement. He is the real deal for sure.

I would like to add just a bit to this post. I owe a big thank you to John for scouting for me in the OGD. He had to bust his butt to keep Abbie moving forward. I lost her for 9 minutes and said thanks to the judge. I turned my horse around and here comes John and Abbie from about a 1/4 mile back. His hard work really saved me from getting out the Tracker and hunting her down. I owe you a big bear hug as well.
I rode in the gallery for most of the OGD and Jake laid down a nice run. He was an easy pick from my perspective. Wayne and Mary are very nice folks and it is fun to see owners when they finish a dog. Wayne is going to put an AFC on this dog real quick.
Wayne also handled Jeb the Viz that won AGD stake. Jeb was in the first brace and this dog put on a great show. 2 really nice finds that were absolutley steady and a back that looked just as good. The dog was out front for the most part and he never tired.
Thanks
Clark

That was only my second or third scouting assignment since the old days. I may not be as fast, but I am dogged. I am going to find that pooch. None left behind, well, not too far behind anyway.
The guy that really has my respect as a scout, in our local area, is Walters. He was born to do it. He takes it personally if he loses a dog. We won an ASD RU Ch. last year which we would not even have been in but for his scouting, and we lost an ASD this spring because we were misdirected by the gallery. But he had dug the dog up twice a half mile away and put him to the front. Too bad his hips are starting to act up, he is going to be the same as me in a year or two, bionic man.

AHHH!!!! come on VZ... From a borrowed quote "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Jim Beam in one hand, favorite birddog in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"vzkennels wrote:Talk about bionc man John & you made me think of a friend of mine.He has both knees,1 hip,1 shoulder,& 1 back operation & another back operation on the way.We should of all taken better care of ourselves.

I have two artificial knee's so I guess I'm allowed to quote that.

I was ignoring that, not wanting to expose the rest of you to the sight of two toothless old cusses dukin' it out.
You forgot the toothless old cusses also had HD.
Sure wouldn't be pretty.
