Best Bitch in Southern Maturity!

Post by CherrystoneWeims » Mon Aug 27, 2007 8:56 am

At the end of July Ch Cherrystone Ghost Crab ( Ch Silversmith Ethan Allen JH,NSD x Ch Cherrystone Perl of Sagenhaft SH,SDX,NRD,V) won Best Bitch in Southern Maturity. A litter has to be nominated within so many days of being bred to be eligible to compete in its Futurity and Maturity. Dogs/bitches can only show in ONE Futurity and ONE Maturity in their lifetime.

This is a huge national event for the Weimaraner Club of America. Top breeders from Canada and the US travel to compete with their dogs.

Garnet was bred by me and is co-owned with a wonderful family. I own both her sire and dam. Garnet is from Pearl's first litter. She has been evaluated for field and will start her training in the next month. This breeding will be repeated next spring.

Thanks, Sonny!

LOL Yep it's a show thing. BUT we have evaluated Garnet and it looks like she may be better than her dam, Pearl. Pearl is the bitch in my avatar. Pearl has one leg of MH and FT placements.

For a Futurity the dogs/bitches are about a year old. For a Maturity they are about two yrs. old. It's really quite a coup for a breeder to win. This is the third bitch that I have bred who has won either a Futurity or Maturity. I am not a huge breeder as I only do a litter about once a year. The winners usually breed about TEN or so litters a year. BUT my stud dog has sired two futurity winners and three maturity winners. He's really proving himself to make a mark on the breed. And he's pretty decent in the field!

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare.
And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.
