Announcement: Litters

Announcements for litters, while definitely able to be thought of as "brags", should actually be placed in the "Dogs for Sale" forum. I've made several moves, just so everyone knows.

If the pups aren't for sale, and you just want to brag about a pup you will be getting or that a litter was born, feel free to post either here or in the general section; but at the bottom of your pose please designate that no pups are for sale that way the thread doesn't accidentally get moved.

Sonny, we have categories for a reason, and that is to sufficiently organize the forum so that our members can access the information and dialog that they want without the excess off-topic threads. Another reason is so that someone looking for specific information doesn't have to check every category to find it (i.e. someone looking to purchase a started dog can just check the "dogs for sale" category and not also have to check "general," "health & nutrition," "training," etc.) It's part of a moderator's job to make sure threads get put in the proper categories.

I hope that's a sufficient enough explanation, but if it isn't then feel free to PM me and we'll discuss it further.

If the intent is to brag about the placements, sure. If the intent is to sell the 11th pup, then it really should go in the "Dogs for Sale" category.

Please just try to use good judgment on this and not create any more work for the moderators to do.

Seems logical to me that you'd want to let people know that the dogs are sold so you don't get continuously contacted for a litter you no longer have. That's the idea behind it anyway. This would be especially true if you already posted that the litter was for sale.

Also, like I said, if the intention of the post is to sell the remaining pup (he said he's got them all gone except one), then it should be in the for sale category.

The Brag's category is really meant for event wins, placements, good showings, or reaching milestones. Everything else really should be going into another category. (i.e. It's certainly something to talk about when your pup retrieves to hand the first time after a lot of working on it, but it's actually better suited in the "General" or "Training" section.) Not that a person shouldn't be proud of an accomplishment, just that the accomplishment really deals with another section of the forum.
