Help with Mitchell- Letcher SD
Help with Mitchell- Letcher SD
My son and I plan to go to Letcher for four days the weekend before thanksgiving. I've got a place to stay, the problem is the farm we are to hunt is big and wide, not much cover. Does anyone know of any good public walk in areas near us. Any help would be appreciated. It will be our first time in South Dakota. I've got a Lab. probably leave our EP puppy 10 months at home. What do you'll think about that? I'm afraid of her ranging too far.

Don't count on the sporting goods stores having copies of the walk-in guides; most were out of them last week, including the Cabelas in Mitchell.

I grew up around there. if the walk in areas are pretty beat down and you don't find many birds, try walking fence lines. We would have some of our best days of hunting walking fence lines and tree strips between corn fields. I know there is one a few miles outside of Salem right on highway 38. that's about 30 miles. That one actually used to be my grandpa's farm. It was given to the state for a walk in area. I also holds some ducks too.
