Idaho season closes early

Post by chukarguy » Wed Jan 07, 2009 10:46 am

I just read an article in the idaho statesman stating that the season for chukars and huns in Idaho will close three weeks early this year due to the heavy snowfall and the already low population of chukars and hun's. It will close on January 10th.

I saw this on iFish as well. Sounded like quite a few people agreed with the management strategy, as numbers had been dwindling in some of the popular areas. I know they've been getting some heavy snow the last month. Spokane and Coeurdalene both set some sort of state record for inches of accumulation in a 24 hour period.
Judging by all the pics of people snowed into their driveways I bet they don't care much anyhow :D

Yeah, I was a little bummed out. I was hoping for one more trip! Although it may not have been any good anyway with all the snow. I have had a hard time even here in utah getting in and out of some area's and I am not covering as much ground cause i get slowed down so much. My wife shed big tears of joy when she heard :!: I am sure she has already contacted the utah game and fish and begged them to follow suit.

Sorry for your loss and congratulations to your wife :D
Well, you're close enough to Arizona, check their regulations on quail. A guy I bought my last set of pen-raised birds from told me when he was in Arizona in his motor coach, he stepped out for some fresh air in the morning and had to beat the gambrel quail off with a stick just to clear a path. Those are odds I like!

I'm jealous! Is it a longer season out there? We're closing down in OR, at the end of this month.
