Another waterfowl/upland combo hunt

Post by omega58 » Tue Nov 01, 2005 10:04 am

This past Saturday, a group of friends got together in hopes of getting some mallards field hunting and then hitting the upland woods for grouse/woodcock. The mallard flights are just not here yet in Michigan, we ended up with a couple birds that surprised us from behind, not the best shooting in the world in that flock of 8, we managed two.

We packed up after a while and headed to our property that has been very good the past couple of weekends for grouse/woodcock and this weekend was the best so far as far as numbers moved. We put up 20+ woodcock and 10+ grouse in less than 2 hours of hunting. A very fun hunt to say the least. . .gotta love this time of year as the colors were awesome.

I was finally able to shoot a grouse for my weim. . .I think she almost fainted as it fell.
