How was your opener?

Post by markj » Fri Nov 04, 2005 11:40 am

We didnt do too good sat we were in iowa and the farmer was still gettin the corn out so we didnt hunt it until monday. I got a double, a single on monday, a double on sunday, laffed so hard on sat I didnt get off a shot, my cousin had a double gun when 3 got up, he got 2 then I heard his gun click on a spent shell :) thats when I started laffing :) and missed the ones on my side of the draw, didnt get a shot off I was laffing so hard.

First opening day with out my Dad being there, he passed away last nov. It was emotional at times, hunting land he used to hunt with me. I kept expecting him to suddenly show up and show us how it is done. He did that years ago, taught us all how to hunt, now we remember him and those days gone by. Re live old hunts, the miricle shots he always seemed to make.

So I say get out with a relative and hunt, your dad, brother whoever. You will have memories to talk over in the years to come.

I hoipe everyone has a great year, dont matter if no birds go home, just how the dogs work.

Sorry for your loss Mark. There is always a hole there when a great mentor is gone.

I hunt with my two bros. every weekend I can. We have a bunch of other relatives that hang around too. Lots of fun.

Well my opening day was spent in bed for about a total of 15 hours. There's some sort of bug going around this area -- knocks you flat on your back for about a week. I woke up Tuesday and it felt like I'd been hit by a freight train.

Danyelle and I took Justus for a walk out at the hunt preserve this afternoon and we scared up two deer and three pheasants. It was just a walk though, no real hunting. It was almost way too windy to even walk though.
